Fimbulwinter

Saturday 11 Oct 2014 - Saturday 29 Nov 2014

In his recent work, Fitzjohn explores concerns regarding our changing climate. Themes focused in our consciousness buy the recent storms that devastated our coastline reminding us of the fluid and changeable nature of our landscape.

The installation is titled Fimbulwinter, which in Norse mythology is a period of three successive winters, an environmental disaster that is the immediate prelude to the end of the world. While the world may not be ending, it is changing and this work responds to this by imagining of the end of things as they are, the mutability and adaptability of nature and the hope embedded in possible futures.
